How often should I visit my dentist ?
Ideally you should visit your dentist every 6 months. This helps in evaluating your oral health and early detection of dental and oral diseases.
How often should I change my tooth brush ?
You should change your toothbrush every three months or as soon as the bristles appear frayed.
Why are X-rays and CBCT scans required ?
They help your Dentist in diagnosing the full extent of your dental issues.
Does tooth extraction lead to weakening of eye sight or loss of hearing ?
No. These are myths. The nerves for eyesight, hearing and tooth are different branches. So tooth extraction can’t lead to the above mentioned.
Does teeth cleaning make your teeth loose ?
No, it’s a myth. Teeth cleaning is a procedure done by ultrasonic machines. These machines do not have the potential to loosen your teeth. In fact, not cleaning your teeth will lead to deposition of dirt and tar-tar, which will loosen your teeth. Teeth cleaning will not loosen your teeth.
Do children having milk teeth need dental treatment?
Yes, milk teeth need to be treated as they lay the foundation for the new permanent teeth.
Milk teeth play an important role in helping your child chew properly and if left untreated can result in malnourished or undernourishment in children at a very early age.Not just that the decay can progress to permanent teeth which are in their formative stage right below these milk teeth.
Milk teeth help in guiding eruption of permanent teeth. They also play an important role in speech in children.
Is it safe for my child between 0-6 years to under go dental treatment?
Yes, it is safe for your child to undergo dental treatment.
What will happen if I don’t replace a missing tooth ?
A missing tooth is detrimental to your whole dentition. If a missing tooth is not replaced it will cause adjacent teeth to tilt in the space of the missing tooth and opposing teeth to move in the direction of the missing tooth.It will create spacing in teeth, impaired chewing ability and may spoil your smile leading eventually to loss of more teeth.
What age is ideal for Braces ?
Usually Fixed Braces can be used in children whose permanent teeth have erupted. Although, with the advent in modern orthodontics, people of older age also can be treated with Braces.
Can adults undergo Braces or Aligners ?
Yes, they can.
Who can undergo Dental Implant treatment ?
Dental Implants are an ideal way to replace a missing tooth or multiple teeth for an adult.They are suitable for almost all adults, except people with specific medical conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, chronic illness or some blood disorders.
Though not completely contraindicated it is advisable to avoid smoking, tobacco or other delirious habits if you have a dental implant.
Should I inform my Dentist about any diseases or medical treatments I am undergoing?
Yes, it is imperative that you give full medical history to your Dentist. Full information about your medications and condition helps the care provider in understanding and diagnosing your dental health issues.
Why do some dental treatments require blood investigations ?
Proper blood investigations are a must especially if you have diabetes,have any heart related ailments, take blood thinners and in certain other conditions.It can minimise the chances of intraoperative or postoperative complications.
